Ladies Classic 2019

The 35th Bargara Ladies’ Classic was completed on Wednesday 16 October. A special thanks to Val Bazley for organising her 35th Classic, ably supported by Michelle Marsden, Marg Zande and Bec Ulcoq. Many volunteers, both men and women made the event a well run success. Thanks to all the volunteers. It is a very strong point of Bargara club where both men and women support each other’s events. A special thanks to Archie and his team of volunteers who worked tirelessly. Tee offs began at 6.30 each morning and the last of the afternoon field finished around 5.30 pm.
Clubs are very passionate about wearing club colours and this was obvious from the wonderful spectrum of colour on the course. Many of the clubs make a special effort to wear their club colours on the final day – a real spectacle.
Izzy (Isabella Artchuea ), from her home club of Bundaberg, a member at Bargara and coached by Phil Curd (Bargara) was the overall Div 1 Champion, after posting a fantastic round of 6 under par and a new Bargara Course record on Monday, followed by competitive rounds for day 2 and 3. Congratulations to Izzy. The Classic had many clubs (over 40) represented with 262 ladies teeing off in search of glory (or actually lots of fun and frivolity). The ladies had a wonderful time at the presentation ceremony, with many locals and visitors alike being successful. If the noise at the clubhouse was any indication, it was obvious that all had a great time. Added to the noise level was the hilarity generated by the Trivia quiz organised by Jan Thomas of the Ladies Match Committee.
Let’s hope we see all the ladies return for next years event.

Bernadette Fitzgerald

Recognition of Service

It was wonderful to see Val Bazley recognised for her continued service to the Bargara Golf Club and to congratulate her on the successful running of her 35th Ladies Classic. Well done Val and thanks for everything you do.
